Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

What if you could help your body’s natural healing process to treat a foot or ankle injury?

At Georgetown Foot & Ankle we use a  technique called platelet rich plasma therapy, known as PRP, that utilizes the body's own growth factors to stimulate the healing of soft tissue conditions. We also use PRP for quicker and more complete healing of diabetic wounds.

PRP is performed using a small sample of your own blood in which we concentrate the growth factors and re-introduce them into the injured area.

We have found that PRP promotes quicker and more complete healing with minimal down-time that allows our patients to resume their normal activities sooner. Sometimes we combine PRP with engineered living skin substitutes to enhance your healing capacity. In addition, many problems that in the past required extensive surgery such as ligament and tendon tears, plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis are now being successfully treated without the need for open surgery.

Common conditions that a PRP injection may treat include:

If you've been suffering with tendinitis, a ligament injury, joint pain or acute soft tissue trauma PRP may be the best solution for you.  Make an appointment with Dr. Brent S. Wood, DPM to learn all your treatment options.
